” An iconic, 38- year established, family-owned, old-fashioned hamburger shop has been acquired. This establishment has stood the test of time, while serving many patrons from all over the metroplex for decades and establishing unique relationships with everyone that has stepped foot inside this cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. This business was acquired in 1985 by a husband and a wife. The husband was a restauranteur who had vast knowledge, expertise, and passion for the food industry, not to mention having owned top French continental restaurants in the metroplex and overseas. The wife, who is the sweetest and the most caring person one will ever encounter, was the face of the business, who would greet every patrons walking in with the most radiant smile. While the husband created homemade dressings from scratch, unique combinations for the burgers and sandwiches, and making sure the burgers are cooked to perfection, the wife was in charge of bookkeeping and marketing, while working the register and greeting every patrons. Both of their strengths have attributed to the success and was voted as the best hamburger restaurant in the area by many magazines and publications for countless years. As you walk in, you are welcomed with the aroma of fresh certified black angus beef patties grilling, bacon, and Idaho potato fries in the fryer, and as you wait in line, this place takes you back in time with the quirky interior and countless historic and vintage items, which both owners have bought over the years and displayed them all over the walls and counters.
There had been a few imitators who opened multiple locations with similar name hoping for similar success, but this establishment’s uniqueness could never be replicated and reproduced. Both owners have dedicated almost half of their lifetime putting in sweat, tears, and especially their love into the business, and understandably so, it was a bitter-sweet moment when they had turn over the keys to the new owners. Fortunately, the buyers, who are much younger, excited, and enthusiastic about the venture, recognized how valuable this business was besides the monetary aspects, but the relationships that were built with the employees and patrons, the impact this business had on the community, and how this business brought all types of people together from all over the metroplex simply for the love of burgers, fries, and shakes. The buyers have promised to continue the legacy of this business and the owners are relieved that they are handing over the business who seem to their younger selves. This establishment was and will always be a staple to the city and an endearment to every patrons that have taken a bite of their hamburger and shared a few words with the owners.
It was an absolute honor, a pleasure, and a privilege to have worked with the owners and grateful that the owners confided in me. The relationships that were built, their life stories and life lessons they shared with me are invaluable and something I will cherish forever.” said Kevin Chung, VP of Business Brokerage and Senior Business Intermediary for V-AID Business Investment in Dallas.
