Sideways BBQ began as two friends BBQ-ing together on competition team. Josh had a digital marketing firm, owned a radio show at Clear Channel, created a mobile app, and had a passion for BBQ, so he formed a competitive team and named it SIDEWAYS. Jeff played soccer professionally in the MLS, was the Goalie for the 1997 Olympic Team, Head Coach for The Real Salt Lake, and Coach for the 2021 Olympic soccer team. After the two teamed up and won many BBQ competitions together, they decided to open a restaurant with that name. The LLC was formed in 2016 and the doors opened in 2017. It was an instant hit! Amazing food combined with a great bar and big stage for live music and karaoke got the attention of all of Rockwall County and surrounding areas including the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber nominated SIDEWAYS as the Top New Business of the Year it’s first year! SIDEWAYS won the award along. The customer base consists of high-income individuals and families from the surrounding area along with many tourists and shoppers from the influx of traffic brought to the mixed-use development and lake.
